A Community of Action Advancing Food Protection

The Global Food Protection Institute (GFPI) was formed in 2009 to improve public health by advancing food safety.

Located in Battle Creek, Michigan, initial funding for GFPI was provided through a grant from the W.K Kellogg Foundation.

Core initiatives

GFPI has established three core initiatives to deliver on its vision for a safer global food supply:

  • Building the training infrastructure for the national integrated food safety system IFPTI
  • Advancing novel food protection technologies for the world ETA
  • Convening communities of action in facilitation of the adoption of policies and practices that will lead to improved public health IFF

Through these initiatives, we aim to improve public health and help reduce mortalities, morbidity and economic costs associated with food-borne illnesses.
